FUCT: A Brief History

FUCT began in May of 2002 when a group of students at Fordham University illegally performed an evening of underground comedy. This show was put up at midnight in the black-box theater with a curtain, a microphone and a keg. Back then, the only point collectively agreed upon was the title: F.U.C.T., or the Fordham Underground Comedy Troupe.

By the following fall, rumors of this secret show had quickly spread and when FUCT returned (now introducing a live band into the mix), the audience more than doubled in size, with students cramming in to sit or stand wherever they could to catch a glimpse of the stage.

In December of 2004, a portion of the group partnered up with most of the original members in an attempt to take FUCT outside of Fordham. FUCT in Public premiered for one night only at the Rattlestick Theatre, thrusting the troupe of players onto the New York City comedy scene.

Since that first public performance, the troupe has conceived and produced nine other shows:

In addition, FUCT has appeared in two segments on HDNet's Deadline, at The Upright Citizen's Brigade's Liquid Courage and in several impromptu street performances.

FUCT recently performed in June 2008 at the Broadway Comedy Club and Spotlight Live as part of SkitSkat Live Comedy Festival, where they were given the sole award for Best Comedy Troupe.

Today, FUCT continues with the same energy as its original, illegal black-box performances, striving to create a late night show that feels like a party. A show that will make you laugh, or groan, or scream. A show that follows the same formula of mixing comedy with games, stunts, music and audience participation. A show that will always ask:
